AUCTION - Neil Young & The Blue Notes - Jim Phillips Signed - 1987 Poster - Coconut Grove Santa Cruz - Mint
This scrumptiously pretty original concert poster is for a three-night stand at the renowned Cocoanut Grove at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA. Three nights of Neil Young performing as the Fabulous Blue Notes, presenting “This Note’s For You”. This song was a scathing indictment of corporate sponsorship and endorsements. The video for this song, which some of you may remember from MTV, was actually shot right there at the Cocoanut Grove. The shows were ostensibly sponsored by ZonkCola and promoted by Sandy Castle Productions. Both imaginary, of course. The show dates were November 2-4, 1987. The artwork is by Santa Cruz local and art world heavyweight, Jim Phillips. His body of work encompasses and embodies the spirit of Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay like no one else. Phillips has chosen a few shades of blue for the entire piece, intrinsically tying the poster to the subject to splendid effect. Lovely work. This original concert poster measures 11” X 17” and Jim Phillips has hand signed the piece in pencil at the bottom. This original concert poster is in stunning Mint condition.
