AUCTION - Haight Ashbury Tribune - Volume 1 Number 7 - 1967 - Underground Newspaper - Very Good
This issue of the Haight Ashbury Tribune, Volume One, Number Seven, from August 1967, is a wonderful cornucopia of Haight Ashbury culture, peaking hard in the late summer of 1967. From the front and back covers to the centerfold, this short-lived newspaper was always jam-packed with wonderful, largely uncredited, psychedelic artwork. This issue is no exception. In fact, it really shines. The front cover is so astonishingly detailed and gorgeous colorwork permeates the paper. Sometimes the art and the printed word are superimposed. Even the Classified Ads are illustrated! So much of what was really going on in people's daily lives in the upper Haight. A snapshot of neighborhood hippie culture.
This issue of the Haight Ashbury Tribune underground newspaper measures 11 1/2" x 15 3/16", approximately, with 16 gloriously psychedelic pages, including front and back covers. In Very Good condition, with a horizontal fold as issued. Well read, has edge tears among the pages and toning. These newspapers are exceedingly rare. This is the first one we have ever seen.
