AUCTION - Grateful Dead - Steal Your Face - S/N 12/50 - Proof - Excellent

Here we have an offer of an exceptionally rare piece of Grateful Dead art up for auction. This is a limited edition, test block proof by Bob Thomas. He came up with the "Steal Your Face" design (along with Owsley). To say it's an iconic design doesn't do the piece justice. One of the more emblematic and recognizable designs in the music world, to say the least. Bob Thomas made this proof in 1992 and gifted this one (12/50) to longtime Grateful Dead crew member, Billy "Kid" Candalario. Thomas personally hand-wrote and hand-signed this proof in fine black pen at the bottom center to Mr. Candelario. This proof is also hand-numbered at the bottom left. A scant 50 of these were made! This one measures 14" x 16 3/4", approximately. The piece is in excellent condition. It comes rolled and has a single pinhole at the bottom center, along with horizontel bends and handling. The symbol that epitomizes the Grateful Dead. A "Stealie" from the man who invented it.
