AUCTION - FD 14 - Big Brother Janis Joplin - Zig-Zag Man - "Genuine Counterfeit" - 1966 Poster - Excellent
This poster from 1966 is a story in itself! What we have is a knockoff of the iconic Family dog poster, FD-14. Known as the Zig-Zag poster, the original was done by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. You know you're getting big when people fake your work. Even so, Mouse and Kelley decided to take action. Together they stormed any stores selling these ersatz artworks, brandishing rubber stamps that reads "Genuine Counterfeit". Stamping as many as possible to let the world know what was really going on! A great story, to be sure, and borne out by the bright red stamp at the bottom of this piece. An imaginative response from an imaginative pair. Sort of a Dynamic Duo of poster defense. This "Genuine Counterfeit" FD 14 measures 14 1/8" x 20", approximately. The piece is in Excellent condition, with only a little handling, a small corner bend, and a very small bit of writing in blue pen at the bottom right corner. Get a great story to go with your poster! This poster is incredibly rare.
