AUCTION - BG-62 - Grateful Dead - Wes Wilson - 1967 Poster - Fillmore Auditorium - Excellent
AUCTION - BG-62 - Grateful Dead - Wes Wilson - 1967 Poster - Fillmore Auditorium - Excellent
This is an original, first-printing concert poster for the Grateful Dead, the Paupers, and Collage, performing at the Fillmore Auditorium on May 5 and 6, 1967. Designed by Wes Wilson and cataloged as BG-62 in the Bill Graham series, this piece holds significant historical interest as it was released just six weeks after the debut of the Grateful Dead’s first Warner Bros. album.
The artwork features a prominent dollar sign, which Wilson used as a protest against Bill Graham over ongoing financial disputes. This design marks a pivotal moment in the series, as Wilson was replaced by Bonnie MacLean immediately following this poster. Measuring 14" x 24", this example is in Excellent condition with light handling and a 6" crease on the bottom.
