Offered here is Wes Wilson's handbill for Michael McClure’s The Beard at the Fillmore Auditorium in 1966. This version of the BG 19 handbill is possibly the rarest handbill in the BG series. Eric King's refers to this handbill as BG-19-OHB-E in his Guide to Psychedelic Poster art. This handbill is stunning. One has to see it to appreciate it. Brown ink on brown paper but with lots of reddish fibers that seem to make the handbill vibrate. It measures about 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”. Wes Wilson’s art advertises the transgressive play by Michael McClure with its ribald themes and over the top sex scene. The handbill is in near mint condition with only a bend lower right corner which keeps it from being mint.
