Such a sweet piece this is! Here we have a circular, two-sided welcoming announcement for the Band's Last Waltz concert on Thanksgiving, 1976, at Winterland in San Francisco, CA. The circular card, written by Bill Graham, first welcomes the reader, then outlines the evening's dining and dancing activities, including the hope that some of the artists might come out to dance to the Berkeley Promenade Orchestra after the concert itself. Ever the optimist, Bill Graham. This may well have been his most sumptuous gig ever. A triumph for all involved. Finally, Bill Graham signs the card with his customary, trademark "Cheers, Bill", but adds "and All the Other Turkeys". A bit of humor and humility sprinkled on top of a magnificent evening. The Last Waltz, directed by Martin Scorsese, is considered to be one of the finest concert movies ever. The Band's final performance featured an all-star lineup for the ages: Dr. John, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and so many more showed up to make the Band's Swan Song one for the ages. This two-sided circular Last Waltz announcement card measures 6" in diameter. The piece is in Excellent condition, with light handling on the edges, and a very light stain by the "D" in "Band". No tack holes. Never put up. A marvelous artifact from one of the most memorable concerts ever.
