AUCTION - AOR 2.282 - Country Joe and the Fish - 1966 Poster - Jabberwock Berkeley - Excellent

This late 1966 poster is from the legendary Berkeley, CA. venue, the Jabberwock. Country Joe and the Fish played a whole week from October 10–16, 1966. "Come As You Are", it says at the bottom. Printed by the wonderful Bindweed Press in San Francisco. The equally wonderful artwork is by Joel Beck, who went on to do underground comics. He does a magnificent job here, with a fantastic band caricature. But the Lady Godiva on a dinosaur really sells the piece, folks! Such a green dinosaur. Great use of purple, too. Just a really eye-catching poster. This Joe Beck poster is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 217, plate 2.282. This original concert poster measures 14 1/4" X 20" The piece is in Excellent condition, with pinholes in each corner, toning, edge wear, especially at the upper left side, and some handling. A great Jabberwock poster from Berkeley. With a much smaller print run than the San Francisco venues. Lady Godiva on a brontosaurus!
