AUCTION - Alice Cooper The Spiders - 1968 Handbill - Lake Berryessa Bowl - Near Mint Minus
AUCTION - Alice Cooper The Spiders - 1968 Handbill - Lake Berryessa Bowl - Near Mint Minus
This handbill is a very rare piece. The venue was the short-lived lake Berryessa Bowl and this was their Grand Opening. The show dates were May 30–31 and June 1, 1968. Lots of great bands, like H. P. Lovecraft and Loading Zone, but the real treat here is the Spiders. This band changed its name very shortly (within days) after this gig – to Alice Cooper! Intricate artwork is by Carson Morris, who does a mean paisley. We have to note that they let the "first 50 girls in free". Throw in a "hit records" giveaway and you've got yourself a real Grand Opening!
Printed on thin, light brown paper stock, this handbill measures approximately 7 3/8" x 11". In Near Mint Minus condition, with a pair of tiny edge tears along the top and light handling, mainly along the edges. Never put up. A really scarce piece from an unusual venue. The real treat, however, is Alice Cooper, mere days before the name change.
