AUCTION - Weedies - Breakfast of Headstarters - Dennis Dent - 1969 Black Light Poster - Near Mint Minus
We are pleased to offer this highly sought-after original 1960s head shop poster, a psychedelic parody of the classic General Mills Wheaties cereal box. The design features the iconic Zig-Zag Man on an athlete's body and creatively modifies the famous cereal slogan to "Breakfast of Headstarters."
The artwork is by Dennis Dent, a renowned Oakland-based "speed painter" celebrated for his entertaining performances and rhythmic movements while creating large-scale portraits of celebrities. Notably, an example of this poster is held in the permanent collection of the Oakland Museum of Contemporary Art and distributed by Wespac Visual Communications, Inc. in 1969. Designed using heavily saturated fluorescent inks, the artwork jumps off the page when viewed under ultraviolet (UV) black light. It's in Near Mint Minus condition with minor handling and measures 23" x 34 3/4
