AUCTION - Sly & Family Stone - 1st Concert - 1966 Handbill - Winchester Cathedral - Excellent

We are excited to offer what we believe is the first concert advertisement for Sly & the Family Stone, dated December 16, 1966. At that time, the group was still known as the "Sly Brothers and Sisters," a name they soon changed to Sly & the Family Stone. This concert took place at the Winchester Cathedral in Redwood City, CA, just south of San Francisco. Only three of these posters are known to exist, and this is one of them. No official poster was created for the event, making this a remarkable piece of history from one of the most dynamic and original bands of the past sixty years. The item measures 4 5/16" x 11". Its condition is excellent, although it does have small pieces of tape in the corners and a tear at the upper left edge. This is a must-have for collectors!
