Offered here is the famous Timothy Leary “Kidnapped by Government Officials” Ransom Poster – reportedly commissioned by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love. This striking extremely trippy poster with art by the legendary Laguna Beach poster artist, Bill Ogden, is in great shape – it does have some handling and a few dings as the result of being stored rolled for several decades. This poster was produced to solicit funds to “liberate” Leary during the time that he was imprisoned on drug charges in 1970. The poster encourages folks to send contributions to a Berkeley address or to the Mystic Arts psychedelic emporium in Laguna Beach. Leary escaped from prison later that year and lived in exile (Algeria and Europe) before being captured and returned to prison. This was obtained from someone connected with the Mystic Arts shop – this super, super rare poster is a must for collectors of Leary ephemera and especially for those seeking key 60’s examples of Bill Ogden’s poster art! It's in excellent condition but has been rolled vertically at one point, has light handling. It measures 18" x 27".
