AUCTION - Portrait of Rick Griffin - Stanley Mouse Original Art - 1968 Framed - Excellent

Offered for auction is an absolute gem of a portrait of the late, truly great, Rick Griffin. The portrait was done by another titan of poster art, Stanley Mouse. He did the portrait in 1968, not long after Rick Griffin burst onto the scene in San Francisco. An absorbing likeness, to be sure. Stanley Mouse displays great sensitivity and perception to go with his remarkable technique. Mouse and Griffin had collaborated on the "Trip or Freak" poster from 1967, as well as appearing together at the Joint Show. Here we have one artist showing his love and admiration for another artist. Touching, heartfelt and one of a kind!

Stanley Mouse sold this piece in the early 1980s, and at that time he hand-signed the portrait at bottom right with his "Running Mouse" signature (a piece of art in itself). Additionally, Stanley Mouse handwrote an authentication on the reverse. The piece comes framed, with a special window to show the authentication on the back. The total framed piece measures 11 3/4" x 12 1/4,"  and it is in Excellent condition with only light handling. An absolutely beautiful and unique piece.
