AUCTION - Haight Ashbury Free Clinic - Straight Theater - 1967 Benefit Poster - Excellent
AUCTION - Haight Ashbury Free Clinic - Straight Theater - 1967 Benefit Poster - Excellent
This is a rare benefit concert poster for a pair of shows held to support the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic in San Francisco, CA. The events took place at the Straight Theater in the Haight-Ashbury district, a significant center of counterculture during that era. The shows were billed as a two-day "Mixed Mediathon," running from 10 AM to 2 AM on October 4-5, 1967.
Printed by Pan-Graphic Press, the artwork is a collaboration between Chuck Arnett and Mike Coffee. The poster features a beautiful black-and-white drawing of a serene, pregnant hippie girl holding flowers and balloons; one balloon simply says "Help," while the other displays the logo of the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic. This piece is elegantly emblematic of the time and measures 13 7/8" x 11".
The Straight Theater benefit show poster is in excellent condition with signs of handling. This is a cool and scarce piece of Straight Theater memorabilia.
