AUCTION - Grateful Dead - 1980 Poster - Radio City, NYC - Excellent

This iconic and highly desirable poster up for auction is the classic Grateful Dead at New York City's Radio City Music Hall poster by Dennis Larkins, with help from longtime Bill Graham confidant and Lieutenant, Peter Barsotti. The piece commemorates the now legendary ten-day, eight-show run in October 1980. Printing is by venerable Bill Graham presents printer Tea Lautrec Litho. Dennis Larkins did a masterful job here, along with the companion piece to this one, namely for the Grateful Dead's stint at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, California, a short week prior to the New York City shows. That poster is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 345, plate 4.45. Larkins' technique shines with the giant skeleton design and subtly psychedelic airbrush work. But what is really impressive is all the detail. Look closely and you'll find the band members themselves waiting in line! These posters are becoming more desirable as time goes on.

The piece measures 21 1/4" x 27 3/8". This Radio City Music Hall Grateful Dead poster is in Excellent condition. Never put up. No pinholes. No tape. The piece has corner bends, and light edge wear, except for at bottom, right, which is a little more extensive. Looks fantastic. Presents remarkably well. East Coast Deadheads, get ready. Carpe diem!
