AUCTION - Grateful Dead - 1971 Handbill - San Diego - Excellent
AUCTION - Grateful Dead - 1971 Handbill - San Diego - Excellent
Offered for auction is a Grateful Dead handbill from 1971! Here we have the Grateful Dead playing at the San Diego Community Concourse on August 7, 1971. The New Riders of the Purple Sage were the other band on the bill. The pairing of these two bands was always auspicious and a real treat for the crowd. The promoter, Pacific Productions, put on the event, and they charged a whopping four bucks to get in ($.50 more at the door!). This is one of Pigpen's last shows with the band, and it was about a month and a half before the release of their new album, "Grateful Dead" (Skullf**k).
Done in black and white, this Grateful Dead/New Riders San Diego handbill measures 3 1/2" x 7 7/8". The condition is Excellent, with a bit of handling throughout, a light stain on the front, and one on the reverse. Nice early piece with two legendary bands.
