AUCTION - Funk - George Clinton P-funk - Paired Numbered Silkscreen - 2002 Posters - Near Mint
AUCTION - Funk - George Clinton P-funk - Paired Numbered Silkscreen - 2002 Posters - Near Mint
This lot of two matched posters is for a May 7, 2002 performance by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic at Club Townsend in San Francisco. Artist John Seabury, known widely for his "Psycotic Pineapple" character, made a pair of posters which, when combined, make for quite a striking tableau! Amazing silkscreen technique and a keen graphic eye make for a real powerhouse pair. Seabury has hand-signed each poster at the bottom right, along with hand-numbering each one at the bottom left. Each matched pair was numbered sequentially, and this pair is numbers 75 and 76 out of an edition of 92. That means only 46 matched pairs were ever made. Quite a limited print run. Club Townsend was a rental venue, which hosted a wide variety of recurring club-themed shows, as well as providing a larger space to an established venue, as in this case. Each one of this pair of posters measures 16 1%2" x 24 7/8" and both are in Near Mint condition.
