AUCTION - Frank Zappa - Zappa Krappa - 1967 Poster - Osiris Visions - Very Good

AUCTION - Frank Zappa - Zappa Krappa - 1967 Poster - Osiris Visions - Very Good

This is an incredible Frank Zappa poster from 1967 produced by Osiris Visions Ltd., available for auction. The poster features a photo from the famous "Zappa Krappa" from 1967. Photographer Robert Davidson was originally sent to photograph Zappa in London by Zappa's manager. However, during the photo session, a coincidence led to the iconic toilet photo. When Zappa's manager declined to use the photo, Davidson self-produced a poster with the help of an artist friend named Dale and copyrighted it as "Loon." The early print runs of the poster sold out on Carnaby Street in London, leading Davidson to contract with Osiris Studios Ltd. to print more. This particular piece is from that printing and is extremely rare. It was the first use of the Zappa toilet photos. Another photo from the session was published in a newspaper and bootlegged into the popular Zappa Krappa posters, making it one of the best-selling poster images worldwide. The poster measures 17 1/8" x 23 1/2" and is in very good condition, with some edge wear on the vertical sides while the top and bottom edges are clean. It has never been put up for display. This is the first and only one we have ever seen.
