AUCTION - Family Dog - The Beatles - Magical Mystery Movie - 1968 Handbill - Avalon Ballroom - Excellent

This is an original handbill for a series of screenings of the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" movie. The Beatles were friends with Family Dog promoter Chet Helms. When they learned of the troubles facing the Family Dog (losing the lease to the Avalon Ballroom), they loaned a print of the movie to them for the weekend, with all proceeds going to the Family Dog to help cover legal fees and other expenses. The handbill also includes a printed Western Union telegram from The Beatles at the bottom. This event took place from November 22-24, 1968, when the Velvet Underground and the Flamin' Groovies were also performing at the Avalon. The handbill measures 8 1/2" x 11" and is in excellent condition, having been folded in quarters but now lays flat.
