AUCTION - Black Panther Party - Bobby Hutton - 1968 Memorial Poster - Very Good
AUCTION - Black Panther Party - Bobby Hutton - 1968 Memorial Poster - Very Good
We are offering a very rare, original poster for Bobby Hutton, who was the first recruit to join the Black Panther Party and served as its treasurer. Tragically, he was killed in a confrontation with the Oakland police just two weeks shy of his eighteenth birthday.
This poster provides details for attending a memorial in a local park and visiting the funeral home where he lay in state. It also includes information about a procession that marched to the Oakland jail, where Eldridge Cleaver was being held. This is an incredibly significant piece of history, as posters like this seldom appear on the market. This is the first one we have encountered.
The poster measures 17 1/2" x 23" and is in very good condition, having been rolled. It does show some wear, including pinholes and tape stains in each corner, as well as a small edge tear at the bottom (1/4 inch) below the "V" in Cleaver. Finding another like this would be extremely difficult.
