Offered here for auction is BG-13 in the Bill Graham Series. This is the legendary final performance of the most important comedian/social satirist and philosopher of his time, Lenny Bruce. Here he is appearing at the Fillmore with the Mothers (Frank Zappa) on June 20, 1966. Although the Fillmore was a licensed Dance Hall and could therefore admit all ages, this show was billed as "No Minors. Adults Only.", A sure sign of the times. Striking in orange and purple, artist West Wilson created one of the most desirable posters in the Bill Graham series. As history and fate would have it, this was to be Lenny Bruce's final public performance. Headshot of Lenny says it all and is a focal point of the appeal of this early Bill Graham poster. So early, Wes Wilson put his phone number next to his name, most likely to drum up business. This true classic measures 14" x 20", the quintessential Fillmore poster size, really. This is a true first printing, with the local 72 Union Bug and we haven't seen one in years. This exciting and historic poster is in Excellent condition, with a total of seven pinholes, most in or on the edge of the white border, a little bit of light edge wear, a tiny dot of a stain at the top right corner, surface marks pushing from the reverse, which results in a slight raising of the front surface near the "LEN" of "Lenny". The colors are amazingly strong. An absolutely glorious piece and we are proud to feature it.
