AUCTION - Art of Fillmore Pg. 123 - Janis Joplin Santana - 1968 Handbill - Matrix Benefit @ Fillmore - Excellent
This handbill is for a benefit show for the Matrix nightclub. Held at the Fillmore on June 16, 1968. Featuring Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Steve Miller Band, Sandy Bull, Dan Hicks, and a very early appearance of Santana. Printed on very thin, yellow stock. The uncredited artist has appropriated a great Aubrey Beardsley work. Featured in the Art of the Fillmore book on page 123. This is a very scarce Fillmore piece and truly a must-have for any Fillmore completist. Measuring 8 1/2" x 11", the handbill is in Excellent condition, with light handling, a small corner bend at the bottom left, and extremely minor tape stains on the reverse. In fantastic shape, especially being on such thin paper stock. A hard to find at a must-have for the hard-core.
