AUCTION - AOR 4.187 - Grateful Dead - Gary Grimshaw - 1971 Poster w/Ticket Strip - Ann Arbor, MI - Near Mint Minus

This is an original advertising poster for a Grateful Dead concert at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday nights, December 14 and 15, 1971. This poster is one of the more well-known designs for Grateful Dead concerts in the Midwest, but it's quite rare to find one in good condition. The whimsical design features intertwined guitars and flying hearts, resembling a comic book illustration. The original print run is unknown, but considering how scarce this poster is today, it likely was not very large. It was created by the legendary poster artist Gary Grimshaw and is featured in the book "The Art of Rock," where it receives a full page. This is the rarer version of this poster that includes the ticket strip at the bottom and is in near mint minus condition.  Measures 16 3/4" x 22".
