AUCTION - AOR 3.89 - Quicksilver - 1968 Poster - The Bank - Very Good
AUCTION - AOR 3.89 - Quicksilver - 1968 Poster - The Bank - Very Good
Offered here for auction is a great concert poster from a very short-lived venue in Torrance, CA, in the greater Los Angeles area. Quicksilver Messenger Service, Sons of Champlin, and the Ace of Cups ( spelled “Cubs“ incorrectly on the poster) all came down from the San Francisco Bay Area the weekend of September 20–22, 1968. Fantastic lunar landing artwork (before Apollo actually landed) is by Bob Wilson, who did all The Bank posters, while they were around. Wilson declined to sign his work, opting instead for inserting his buffalo–in–profile logo, into each poster. The Bank fell afoul of the police and endured harassment until they closed their doors in late 1968, but the series of posters live on. Several pieces are featured in the Art of Rock book. This one is on Page 283, Plate 3.89. This concert poster from the Bank measures 14 1/4“ x 20“. The piece is in Very Good condition, with staple holes throughout, edge tears, one larger one at the center top, surface wear, handling, a corner bend at the bottom left, light staining on the front and reverse, and toning. A great image from a desirable series of posters.
