AUCTION - AOR 2.202 - Big Brother Janis Joplin - Greg Irons - 1967 Poster - Western Front - Excellent

This original poster by Greg Irons was created as the first venue poster for San Francisco’s Western Front. Irons was commissioned to design posters for this renowned venue by his friend Milan Melvin, who was involved with the club during its early days.

The Western Front was a short-lived and relatively obscure rock club that opened in June 1967 in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. Although it didn’t operate for long, the venue produced a handful of intriguing posters and handbills. Native American themes and imagery were popular among residents of the Haight, and this piece clearly reflects that admiration. Irons continued to design materials for the venue after this initial poster.

The poster is in excellent condition, with light toning, some edge chipping and handling, it measures 14" x 20".
