Auction - BG-289 - Rolling Stones - David Singer Signed - Original 1972 Poster - Winterland - Very Good
We are excited to offer this 1972 Bill Graham Rolling Stones poster. This was an important time in the career of the Rolling Stones. This concert was in support of the newly released double LP, Exile on Main Street, and the prior Sticky Fingers. No one can deny they were at the top of their game at this time.
The poster is known as BG 289. It was designed by David Singer and he signed it in pencil in the lower right. At first glance you might think this is the second printing as the bottom of the upper die does not exhibit the white line that distinguishes the first printing from the second printing. David Singer was aware of this and actually and somewhat unfortunately colored in the white line with black ink making it look like a second printing, although at the time he thought he was just correcting a printing flaw. There are a number of these floating around in the market.
The poster measures 28“ x 22“. It is in very good condition with edge wear, corner wear, and handling in the body though most of which is confined to the borders. There is some minor paper loss in the bottom left corner. On the reverse, there is some small paper loss and staining that does not affect the front. Overall, displays quite well and is an increasingly difficult poster to acquire. Always in high demand!
