AUCTION - AOR 2.183 - Grateful Dead - Trip Or Freak - Mouse, Kelley, Griffin - 1967 Poster - Winterland - Rough
Artwork by Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley, advertising a Halloween, 1967 show at the Winterland with an outstanding line-up including the Grateful Dead and Big Brother And The Holding Company. The orange poster is printed on thin white stock and features a large central image designed by Alton Kelley, of Lon Chaney from the 1925 movie The Phantom Of The Opera, with a smaller version of the same image repeated throughout the background. The title lettering at the top designed by Mouse, incorporates an image of a topless woman. Griffin's trademark lettering is featured at the bottom of the poster showing artist and venue information (note Griffin misspelt Quicksilver as "Quiksilver"!). Measures approximately 14.25" x 26.25". In rough condition, with paper pulls on the front of the poster, tack holes, missing a little of the top right corner, handling bends and toning on the reverse and signs of wear and rubbing to corners and edges.
