AUCTION - FD-6 - SIn Dance Big Brother - 1966 Poster - Avalon Ballroom - Near Mint Minus

Offered is the original, first and only printing of the poster created to promote a pair of concerts, presented by the Family Dog at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, on April 29 & 30, 1966. These seminal shows featured performances by the Big Brother & the Holding Company, Grass Roots, and Sons of Adam. This hugely popular, psychedelic poster, commonly known as Sin Dance, was designed by Wes Wilson and is designated FD-6-OP-1 in the Eric King Guide. This highly charged image was taken from an 1893 painting by Munich Secessionist artist Franz Stuck, entitled "Die Suende" or "The Sin". This image appears on four other Family Dog posters, but this was the first time it was used. The offered example measures approx. 14" x 20" and is in  Near Mint (-) condition, with a small bend on the lower-left edge and a small stain on the "M" in the word "Company".  That said, the central image is clean, with nicely saturated colors.
