AUCTION - Flamin Groovies - 1968 Handbill - Straight Theater - Excellent

Here's a great Straight Theater Handbill from 1968. Located in the upper Haight-Ashbury, the Straight Theater was a countercultural pillar and a real focal point for the scene. Artist Paul Brown chose a comic book design format for this piece, to great effect. This is his second "Straight Sheet" and it features Allmen Joy and the Flamin' Groovies headlining one night apiece on May 17–18, 1968. The openers, Curly Cook's Hurdy Gurdy Band and Petrus, got to play both nights. A delightfully whimsical and trippy handbill to be sure, and it measures 8 1/2" x 11". In really Excellent condition, with just a little light handling.
