AUCTION - BG-222 - Jefferson Airplane - Grateful Dead Benefit - Randy Tuten Signed - 1970 Poster - Rough

A first-printing San Francisco concert poster for Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Santana, It's a Beautiful Day and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks playing one benefit concert on Monday, February 23, 1970. This poster is known as BG-222 in the Bill Graham numbered poster series.

The concert was a benefit for The Grateful Dead, who had recently been arrested for drugs in New Orleans, an event that inspired the Dead's famous song "Truckin'". Many rock art collectors consider this poster artist Randy Tuten's finest work and he has signed it in handsome silver pen down in the lower right corner.

It's in rough condition with a large tear in the lower margin middle, handling bends throughout and horizontal bends. There's also green tape on the back of the poster on the tear.
