AUCTION - FDD-18 - The Doors - 1967 Unique Two-Sided Overprint - 1967 Postcard - Near Mint Minus

This exceptionally rare and unique postcard is for the Family Dog Denver series. This is FD-D18 from 1967, featuring the Doors. The postcard has been overprinted on both sides. You basically get four for one: the front has FD-D18 superimposed over FD–101 (both by Rick Griffin), while the other side has FD-26 (Skull and Roses), with FD-D18 superimposed. The FD-26 print is from the poster, whereas the others are all from the postcard. The reverse, while almost all black ink, has some red and blue ink patches, which likely came from FD–26. This super cool, very unique, two-sided postcard measures 5 1/2" x 7", approximately. The piece is in splendid, Near Mint Minus condition. Sometimes called printer's follies, or simply test paper, or paper to clean a plate, these unique treasures are as rare as they are wonderful, interesting, and insightful. Carpe diem!
