AUCTION - Vulcan Gas - New Atlantis - 1969 Handbill - Excellent

On offer here is a very scarce handbill from the Vulcan gas Company, in Austin, Texas. Local bands New Atlantis headlined the show, with the Untouchables and Texas Ranger each opening one night apiece. Show dates were March 7-8, 1969. Cool split fountain artwork is by John Shelton and this is the first known attributed show handbill by him. No poster was ever made. Extra cool Op Art with the Vulcan Gas logo and the head with the water superimposed. Shelton adds a kneeling nude and a sort of Celtic knot to round out the piece. Referred to by older collectors sometimes as "Lady Karma". This rare handbill measures 6 1/4" x 10 11/16" and is in Excellent condition, with handling throughout and a pair of light diagonal creases, from lower left to upper right, and some edgewear. The colors remain bright.
