AUCTION - Rolling Stones - 1969 Poster - David Byrd Signed - London Venue Sticker - Near Mint

Here is a rare and significant Rolling Stones poster. This poster was designed by Fillmore East artist, David Byrd, as a tour blank for the Stones’ 1969 tour. The tour began in early November and concluded at the end of December. This tour occurred shortly after the death of Brian Jones and was largely done to support their newly released Let It Bleed LP. Keep in mind this tour featured the Rolling Stones new guitarist, Mick Taylor.

While the poster was originally issued as a tour blank to be filled in for the various venues, very few emerged with the concert information. This one has the last two shows of the tour, both of which took place in London at the Lyceum and Saville Theatres. Importantly, these 2 shows took place right after the disastrous Altamont festival. Surprisingly, they returned to London to play in these two small venues that seated around 1500-2000 people. The 1969 tour marked the end of smaller venues as the Stone's popularity exploded and large stadiums became the norm. The poster measures about 21“ x 14“. It has been signed and dated in black sharpie by David Byrd. The condition is near mint with sharp edges and corners. Just a touch of some minor rippling on the paste on the venue sticker. A very uncommon poster. For the record, we note that the last time we auctioned this poster it sold for more than $1400.00. This is the Stones at their finest!!
