AUCTION - Political - The Committee Theater Group - Artist Signed - Cardboard 1967 Poster - Very Good
AUCTION - Political - The Committee Theater Group - Artist Signed - Cardboard 1967 Poster - Very Good
Offered for auction is a cardboard poster from 1967 for The Committee, the San Francisco-based satirical comedy and theater group. The Committee had its venue in the North Beach neighborhood on 622 Broadway. The cool American flag design with the lone wavy stripe and the field of stars on the right is by Committee member Larry Hankin, who has hand-signed this poster very modestly. Hankin and other Committee alumni went on to do lots of great work, but Howard Hesseman (of Wkrp in Cincinnati fame) is probably the most recognizable alumnus. This poster measures approximately 12 1/2" x 19" and is in Very Good condition, with several pinholes, including each corner, resulting in the paper loss at the upper right corner, likely from being pulled down off of a wall. There is also some edge wear. Looks fantastic. We have only seen a few of these, ever. Never one with a signature.
