AUCTION - Haight Ashbury Free Clinic - 1967 Benefit Poster - Straight Theater - Very Good
Here we have an offer of a very scarce benefit concert poster. The pair of shows were held to save the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic in SF, CA. The venue was the Straight Theater in the Haight–Ashbury district, which was a countercultural focal point in its time. Billed as a two-day "Mixed Mediathon". This was an all-day affair from 10 AM to 2 AM on October 4–5, 1967. Printed by Pan-Graphic Press, The artwork is a collaboration by the duo of Chuck Arnett and Mike Coffee. Beautiful black and white drawing of a serene, pregnant hippie girl holding flowers and balloons, one of which says simply "Help", while the other sports the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic logo. Elegantly emblematic of the time, the piece measures 13 7/8" x 11". This Straight Theater benefit show poster is in Very Good condition, with an indentation from the reverse resulting in a near tear at the woman's neck. There are some stains along the bottom border, along with handling. Cool, scarce Straight Theater poster.
