AUCTION - Black Monday - 1967 Poster - Committee Theater - Very Good
AUCTION - Black Monday - 1967 Poster - Committee Theater - Very Good
Offered for auction is a poster for Black Monday, a benefit performance held at the Committee Theater in SF, CA. The show night was May 15, 1967. Four plays in "Black and White". Playwrights Ed Bullins, Le Roi Jones (soon to be Amiri Baraka), Ben Caldwell, and Dorothy Ahmad were featured. Additionally, Le Roi Jones did readings. All to benefit the Black Arts Alliance. Seriously intense artwork is by Isaac. The black and white artwork is just thoroughly engrossing. So much going on to think about. Printed on construction paper type stock, the poster measures 14 3/8" x 20". The piece is in Very Good condition, with edge wear, three sets of staple holes, heavy wear and tear along the bottom edge, and also handling along all four edges. A tiny pink stain in the hyena's eye as well. This extremely rare piece is the only one we have ever seen.
