AUCTION - AOR 4.239 - Grateful Dead - Signed by Alton Kelley - Cairo, Egypt - 1978 Poster - Good

 An original first-printing Grateful Dead concert poster for "Egypt 1978" featuring astounding artwork by the late Alton Kelley, who has signed this on the reverse to his wife Marguerite, (this was his copy). The Dead and opening act Hamza El Din played three shows at the Light Theatre at the Great Pyramid at Giza in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday through Saturday, September 14-16, 1978. 

Collectors should note this is the all-Egyptian version that uses two languages, Arabic and English, and which is pictured in The Art of Rock. This poster's stunning artwork was also used as a "European Tour 1978" poster that gave some London dates in the left gold box (which ended up being canceled) in addition to the Cairo info on the right. Measures 20" x 30". It's in good condition, it is missing a chunk of paper in the lower margin,(the paper has become brittle), handling bends, toning and soft corners.
