AUCTION - AOR 2.363 - Are We Next? - Wes Wilson's First-Ever Poster - Near Mint Minus
AUCTION - AOR 2.363 - Are We Next? - Wes Wilson's First-Ever Poster - Near Mint Minus
Offered for auction is nothing less than Wes Wilson's first poster. Designed and printed by Wes in 1964, the message is quite clear; "Are We Next"? Wilson powerfully appropriates the American flag, superimposing a star-spangled swastika over red and white stripes which form the words "Be Aware". Strong, bold stuff, indeed. This original poster is printed on cardboard stock and purposely made a bit narrow, so as to easily fit on a picket for potential use in a protest. Vietnam was hanging in the balance and artists like Wes Wilson figure prominently in the vanguard against the war. Wes Wilson, of course, went on to be a seminal figure in the concert poster world. This piece, measuring 11 3/8" x 21", approximately, is your chance to own a real piece of American history. In Near Mint Minus condition, with a few small pieces of tape on the reverse, a very light bend in the upper right corner, and a tiny bit of discoloration in the upper regions of the white stripes. Again, Wes Wilson's first-ever poster!
