AUCTION - AOR 2.193 - Grateful Dead - Angry Arts - Longshoremen's Hall - 1966 Poster - Excellent
Offered here is a very rare original concert poster for the Grateful Dead. This event, held at Longshoremen's Hall on April 19, 1966, was an anti-war benefit called "The Week Of Angry Arts". The bands that performed were Sopwith Camel, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & the Holding Co., and Country Joe & the Fish. The Grateful Dead appear to be a late addition to the line-up as they are included only by a sticker that is attached in the upper right corner! On the rare occasion that one of these posters turns up, the fifty-six-year-old glue backing dries up, and the decal has long fallen off and is lost. But not this one. Pictured in the Art of Rock book on page 188 plate 2.193. Measures 17 1/2" X 22 1/2". Condition-Excellent. Has pinholes in the top corners and top center. Also handling. Rare.
