AUCTION - AOR 2.194 - Grateful Dead - 1967 Poster - Winterland - Very Good

This drippingly psychedelic poster is for a show presented by the Love Conspiracy Commune in 1967. They put on a show dubbed “the "First Annual Love Circus“. The bands were Love, Moby Grape, Loading Zone, Blue Truck Crumb Factory, and, oh, the Grateful Dead! This was the very first Grateful Dead appearance at the venerable Winterland Ballroom. They went on to play 58 more shows there, including the closing of Winterland in 1978. Quite a tenure. The artwork is by Herrick, who lets the psychedelic faucet flow on this one. The show had some controversy, as it was picketed by the Diggers, who demanded to get in for free. The Grateful Dead sided with the Diggers and so they got in for nothing. This rather large Grateful Dead Winterland poster measures 17 1/2“ x 25“. The piece is in Very Good condition, with restoration and repair work throughout, handling, and has stress lines from having been rolled. The colors are super bright still. Extremely rare oversize Winterland Grateful Dead poster.
