AUCTION - Hells Angels - Pin-Back Button - 1966 - Excellent

This gem of a rare pin-back button is from late 1966 and was made in support of a pair of Hells Angels in legal trouble in San Francisco. Hank, a.k.a. Harry Kot and "Chocolate" George Hendricks were prominent figures in the Hells angels hierarchy. They were busted in the Haight-Ashbury district for letting a girl ride standing up on a motorcycle. That led to a parole violation for Hank, and Chocolate George was charged with interfering with the arrest. The Hells Angels made bail for George right away and started a legal defense campaign for the two. That's where this button comes in. Made by the venerable Star Engraving in San Francisco, CA., They made millions of buttons over the years. This union-made, pin-back button measures 1 1/2" in diameter, approximately. The piece is in Excellent condition, with just a little wear and the associated light rust and oxidation that come with the age of the piece. First and only one we have ever seen.
