AUCTION - AOR 2.327 - Grateful Dead - "Peace Pooh" - Mouse Signed - 1966 Handbill - Mt. Tamalpais - Very Good
This is an original first-printing concert handbill for the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete, promoting the Mount Tamalpais Peace Festival on the afternoon of Saturday, October 8, 1966. The Art of Rock book featured all three versions of this handbill, with this particular version being the only one that displays the Grateful Dead's name in orange, which matches the word "Peace" and the setting sun.
The venue, the Mt. Tamalpais Outdoor Theater, is located in Marin County, north of San Francisco. This daytime event was a promotional effort for Democratic anti-war congressional candidate Phil Drath, who was a write-in candidate but ultimately lost his race. It was a busy day for the Grateful Dead; after performing at this afternoon gig, they played Winterland that night alongside the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Jefferson Airplane (poster BG-30).
This handbill has been signed in pencil by Stanley Mouse. It measures 8.5" x 11" and is in very good condition, with toning, tape in the bottom right corner, and handling wear.
