AUCTION - AOR 2.16 - Grateful Dead - Michael McClure - 1966 Poster - Avalon Ballroom - Near Mint Minus
We are thrilled to offer this exceptionally rare, early Grateful Dead concert poster. They performed a benefit for the Straight Theater at the Avalon Ballroom. Also on the bill were Wildflower and poet Michael McClure. The date was May 19, 1966, marking the Dead's first Avalon performance, a week before their engagement with the Family Dog. The psychedelic artwork is by Jacob. This poster is featured in the Art of Rock book, page 106, plate 2.16.
It measures 13 7/8" X 20". Condition: Near Mint Minus - Beautiful. One of the finest examples we've seen in years. There is some minor edge wear and a small smudge in the bottom right corner.
