AUCTION - AOR 2.68 - Grateful Dead - Mary Kay Brown Signed - 1966 Poster - Fillmore Auditorium - Excellent

This wonderfully whimsical poster by artist Mary Kay Brown is for a benefit show put on at the Fillmore Auditorium on August 7, 1966. The beneficiary was a children's day camp and kids got in free for the daytime portion, which featured the San Francisco Mime Troupe Puppets. The lineup for the night show was impressive: Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother and the Holding Company, the Grateful Dead, Grass Roots, and the New Improved Jook Savages. (notoriously featuring poster artist great Rick Griffin) and lots more. Artist Mary K, Brown's flair and imagination landed this piece in the Art of Rock book on page 150, plate 2.68. Additionally, Mary Kay Brown has hand signed this piece In black at the bottom left, near the printed signature. This benefit poster measures 14 1/4" x 20". The condition of the piece is Excellent, with a light corner, bends, and edge wear.
