BG-172 - ORIGINAL POSTER ART - Lee Conklin - 1969 Ink on Paper - Fillmore West - Excellent

Offered here is the original poster art for the BG-172 poster, the second to the last poster that the great poster artist, Lee Conklin, did in the Bill Graham series. This is all Lee and all hand drawn on paper for a show featuring Albert King, It’s a Beautiful Day, and Aum at the Fillmore West in May 1969. The arches in the piece are probably a nod to the arches and columns around the perimeter of the dance floor at the Fillmore West. The melting figure in the center is how many folks felt during or following one of those legendary Fillmore West shows.

This art allows you to be drawn into the details of the art and really appreciate Lee's psychedelic drawings. As you can see in the image, it looks like Lee had to redo some of the lettering - to add detail, or possibly the supporting act changed at the last minute. Those pasted-on additions blend right into the art, excellent work Lee! The art is in excellent condition and measures 20' x 22".
