AUCTION - AOR 2.150 - Blue Cheer - California Hall - 1967 Poster - Near Mint

This is a classic example of the Hippie movement taking direct aim at the Establishment. The piece is a "Tribute to J. Edgar Hoover," who was the head of the FBI at the time. In the artwork, Hoover is depicted wearing a flowery shirt and tie, along with a peace sign button on his coat lapel. It's fantastic!

The poster is dated February 10, 1967, and was held at California Hall. The bands featured include Blue Cheer, the Mojo Men, Congress of Wonders, and the Jook Savages, with poster artist Rick Griffin being part of that scene. This artwork is shown in "The Art of Rock" book on page 176, plate 2.150. The poster measures 14 1/4" x 19 15/16" and is in near mint condition, with only a tiny bit of handling.
