What a treasure this handbill invitation is! Here we have a collage by San Francisco artist and renaissance man, Wilfred Satty. Known mainly for his world-class collage work in the Bill Graham series of posters. Satty liked to throw parties and had the networks and connections to put a spectacular guest list together. Satty's basement was where the parties happened and to gain access, you went through a hole cut in the floor! The basement became legendary and an invitation a coveted prize. This particular event was billed as "Comethon" and took place on November 8, 1973. Satty refers to the basement as the "North Beach U-Boat". The piece features a splendid and exceptional collage by Satty. He did live life to the fullest as a quintessential Epicurean bohemian. This scarce Wilfred Satty handbill invitation measures 8 5/8" x 8 5/8" and it is in spectacular Near Mint condition, with the merest of corner bends at lower left. This is the first one we have ever seen.
