AUCTION - Psychedelic - Haight Ashbury Maverick Number Six - 1967 Underground Newspaper - Near Mint

Offered here is Volume one, issue Number Six of the San Francisco underground newspaper, the Haight  Ashbury Maverick. We are treated to full-color front and back covers, to go along with a color centerfold. The front cover is by Ron Adams, who did other covers and inside work for the paper. The back cover is a cool abstract design by Goslar. The centerfold by Tynan is, interestingly, backed by a full-page ad promoting the legalization of marijuana. This is a pretty early sign of more activism and money coming into the pro-pot camp. The rest of the paper is stuffed with the usual wonderful array of poems, drawings, ads, and articles that makes these newspapers so interesting and fun to read. This issue of the Maverick measures 11 1/2" X 15" and is Near Mint condition. Comes folded as issued. Has the number 16 in parentheses on the back cover at the bottom edge. Otherwise, just beautiful.
