AUCTION - Grateful Dead - One-Of-A-Kind - Melkweg Amsterdam - 1981 Poster - Very Good

We are pleased and excited to offer for auction this one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn, Grateful Dead poster from Amsterdam's fabled Melkweg (Milky Way) nightclub. The Dead played on October 15 and 16, 1981. The shows each featured an acoustic and one electric set. This hand-drawn poster was put up at the clubs' front door in haste after Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir played a short set at the club, and the decision was made to bring the full band back after their Germany dates. So, this piece was drawn up and put up at the front door to let patrons know about the shows on short notice. There is a handbill for this show (see elsewhere in this auction), but this is the only poster we have seen for this show. Moreover, it was hand-drawn on the back of a promo poster! This unique piece measures 23 1/4" x 32 1/8", approximately. The poster is in very good condition, having been taken down at the show, folded, and transported back to America, With multiple folds and tears and added Grateful Dead decals attached to it, with one having been removed. All that said, a truly one-of-a-kind piece from the Grateful Dead circa 1981.
