AUCTION - Electric Circus - Tomi Ungerer - Sunday Will Never Be The Same - 1969 Poster - New York City - Near Mint
Here is a unique and quite rare advertising poster for the Electric Circus, a hip nightclub located on the legendary St. Mark’s Place in New York City’s East Village. The venue opened its doors in 1967 and closed in 1971. The club embodied the wild and creative side of the NYC club scene. The poster was designed by international artist, Tomi Ungerer. It was used to advertise a new policy for their Sunday shows. Effective October 5th, “Girls without brassieres admitted free every Sunday.” Of course, it includes a cheeky drawing to check if, in fact, you are braless! The poster measures about 28” x 23”. The poster has been beautifully and professionally linen backed to preserve its integrity. The condition is in near mint. Not many Electric Circus materials out there. A cool piece of NYC ephemera. For the record, we previously sold another copy in our June auction for $706.00. This is our last copy and we are unlikely to find another.
